To kick off our holiday weekend we decided to make some homemade pizzas. I'm not sure how or when the girls got it in their heads that they wanted to make a pizza from scratch but they have been asking about it for a while. They were very excited about this cooking project and couldn't wait to bake our pizzas. Maybe they'll open their own pizzeria someday! :)
Reading the directions
Mixing the herbs for the Mediterranean Pizza
Rolling out the dough for the special cheese pizza the girls had been dying to make
Spreading the sauce together
Lots and lots of cheese for their cheese pizza
Our Chicago style deep dish (that term hardly seems to do this pizza justice, as the crust was so thick I thought it looked a bit more like a casserole than a pizza) pizza cooling while the cheese pizza finishes up
The finished Mediterranean pizza
I'm not always the biggest fan of homemade pizzas. So while I was doing this to be a sport for the girls since they so desperately wanted to make their own cheese pizza, I have to say both the recipes for the Mediterranean and Chicago style were really good. One of the things I also really liked about these pizzas was that they called for using frozen bread dough for the pizza crust. That turned out really well and was extremely easy. There's no doubt I'll be using that little trick for any future homemade pizza creations. I'm not sure which was my favorite, but we'll be making these again! Especially since the girls continue to ask me about making another pizza. Also because just looking at these pictures is making me hungry for them again! :)
