Lexington Horse Park with the Hamlins

After a super hot and humid June the month ended beautifully! The weather cooled down a bit and the humidity disappeared. It was awesome to get back outside and play! On Wednesday, June 30, the Hamlins invited us to join them for a fun day at the Lexington Horse Park along with a couple of visitors they had from out of town. The weather was perfect and we had a wonderful time seeing the Horse Park with them!
~
The first thing we did when we got to the park was to go to a mare and foal demonstration of miniture horses. As we were sitting watching Kennedy began insisting I take a picture of her. lol :)
After the show we were able to go up and pet the mothers and their foals. So much fun even it wasn't easy to get a great picture! :)

After the mare and colt show we walked around the ring to see the horses that were there. Lauren and Katie were great all day at helping the girls get a better look at the horses.

We then continued on to some of the stables. As we walked around a couple of owners were nice enough to let us step inside their stalls to let the girls see the horses up close and take pictures. Both of these horses were Arabian.

There was a competition going on during the afternoon so we stopped to watch it for a little while. I don't know if it was sheer luck or if Reagan saw something but she actually chose the winner in this group. I would have thought she would have selected one of the flashier women but instead she chose the horse who was being riden by an elderly gentleman in a plain yellow shirt. Whatever the reason she chose the winner without any hesitation. :)
We went to a horse show in the afternoon where they did a brief history of horses throughout the ages in different costumes. Here are the 5 horses they used.
After the horse show we were able to go up to the horses to see their costumes as well as pet them. Here Lauren is helping Kennedy pet the War Horse who wore a head dress during the show to look like a dragon.
Lauren assisted Kennedy in seeing all of the horses and here they are checking out the Spanish Norman horse. All of the horses were beautiful but I thought this one was particularily gorgeous.
Katie helped Reagan pet the horses while I was busy taking pictures and Lauren had Kennedy. Here they are looking at the Arabian horse.
The highlight of the day (at least for Reagan) was the pony rides. This girl loves horses and we definitely have riding lessons in our future! She was pretty determined she wanted to ride a particular pony so I was so thankful when we were able to let one child go in front of us and make it work out for her. After she got on him, Gizmo, she told me it was who she had ridden when she visited with Daddy and Nonna. Funnily enough Kennedy rode Twix and Tim said that is who she rode the first time as well. Katie helped me out by walking beside Kennedy. Thanks so much Katie, the girls loved it and it would have been much more difficult without your assistance!

Giving Gizmo one last love pat :)
There is a great playground next to the pony rides. Of course the girls wanted to play on it and insisted that the Hamlins stick around to play with them. They are such sports and I appreciate them so much!
Reagan insisted Katie go down the slide with her. Katie is such a sweetheart especially since those slides in the sun were hot!
Michael helped Kennedy enjoy the slide too. Our girls are so lucky to have the Hamlins to love and spoil them! :)
I was so excited to manage to get a couple of pictures of Uncle Barry with Michael and Kennedy on the slide, somehow he always manages to avoid my camera! lol :)
Thank you so much for including us in your outing to the Lexington Horse Park. The weather was perfect and it was so much fun hanging out with all of you for the day! :)
