We always take the kids to vote with us and this year Reagan was pretty excited and interested in the process. This summer we had some road construction going on near our house. There was a large sign announcing it was part of the Obama intiatives (was that called Rebuild America? That's terrible that I can't remember). Anyway, it was kind of a goofy project and one that caused Reagan great frustration because we were often stuck in traffic. We started talking about how our taxes pay for projects like this and how it's important to vote so we elect officials who spend our money wisely. This led to a whole conversation about what it means to vote and how old you need to be. The next time Grammy and Pop-A-Lops were up here she informed Pop-A-Lops you have to be 18 to vote. He responded by asking her if she was going to vote for Obama. I wouldn't have said anything to her for or against our president but since Dad brought it up... I told Reagan if Pop-A-Lops asked her again she should tell him no, because he spends too much of our money. If you've spent anytime with us in the past several months, I'm sure you've been privilaged enough to here Reagan's discussion on voting and her tyraid on taxes and Obama spending her money. It's pretty funny and at least all of our Republican friends have enjoyed it. lol :) We have been trying to calm her down on this as of late and I was thankful she didn't launch into a full scale attack at the voting center although she did proudly tell them she had to be 18 to vote.

I think Jackson pretty much slept through the experience, Kennedy was not in the mood for pictures that morning but as you can see Reagan was ready to vote and pose! lol :)
When we were pulling away from the center she looked at me and sadly informed me "We will never come back here again." I was kind of puzzled and asked her what she was talking about. She repeated herself and told me "We can never come back here again." Then it hit me that we had discussed how everyone can only vote once and I had had to show them my driver's license so they knew I had voted and couldn't come again. lol :) So we discussed that you can only vote once per election but the next time there is an election we can come back and vote. She was glad to hear that we would have future opportunities to vote. I hope she always stays this excited about her civic duties! lol:)
what a great story and what great civic pride to establish - I love it! =) even if you are bringing out the republican ;) (I think the most important thing is to be involved either side) Cannot wait to see Mr Jackson!
