Reading

While getting the girls ready for bed last night Reagan ran to the couch between trying to use the bathroom and getting her pajamas on to start reading. I didn't pay much attention and decided to give her a few minutes to wind down while I began cleaning up some of the reindeer cookie mess. Tim ducked his head into the kitchen and said "Hey, Anna, you need to come and see this." Kennedy had crawled up on the couch next to Reagan and was listening intently to her reading. I don't have the moment exactly captured on film because the girls of course started moving when the saw me coming with the camera... Even though Kennedy has started scooting off the couch by this point I still think it is so sweet and I love that they share this love of books with each other!
We have this sleigh filled with books about Christmas and I guess Kennedy decided she needed a few to hold herself after listening to Reagan read.

On a side note, Reagan's reading is really coming along. She does exceptionally well for her age. For a while she has been finding random words she knows in books whether they're children or adult books. While she can literally read some she loves to sit and "read" any book making up the story as she goes along. I don't know if she has been doing this for a while or if she just started but I noticed yesterday that while she is running her finger over the sentences she now incorporates all the words she knows into her stories. Sometimes this makes sense and sometimes it sounds totally off the wall. Since I'm not a teacher I don't know if that's a natural progression in reading or not but it seems logical to me that she would choose to read all the words she can and fill in the blanks as needed. lol :) I really need to catch some of this on tape!

  1. Love the pics, as always - you are an amazingly patient Mommy to do such great projects like the cookies with Reagan. And I LOVE the reading pics - just can't wait to see those sweet girls again! xoxoxoxo Grammy
