Wisconsin - June 2011

In mid June Grammy picked us up in Kentucky and helped us travel to Wisconsin to visit Great Grandma Carlson for a week. We could not have made the trip without her and appreciated all of her assistance so much! Thank you also to everyone who spent time with us and did special things with the girls during our visit. The girls are making many wonderful memories of Wisconsin and love visiting as much as Andrew and I did growing up.

~

Reagan could hardly wait to get outside and ride on a tractor with Uncle Phil our first morning in Wisconsin!Uncle Phil gave both girls a brief slow ride around the barnyard but Missy K wanted off pretty quickly while Reagan wanted much much more. Uncle Phil was wild and crazy all over the barnyard with Reagan as well as taking her on a long ride through the fields to chase off some cranes and check on a couple of things with him. Kennedy wanted to go down to one of the fields and look at the cows with Grammy. I cautioned her that it was a long way down and back and so she informed us "My legs will carry me down and Grammy can carry me back." What a deal for Grammy, right? lol :)Pausing for a moment in the middle of her wild ride with Uncle Phil and ready for more!!! :)John is the youngest Carlson Great Grandchild. As he was born the end of February this was our first opportunity to meet him. We enjoyed this first cousin playdate and I'm sure John and Jackson will have fun playing together on the farm in the future!Reagan and Daniel are nearly exactly the same age (less than 6 weeks apart) and super cute cousins to boot! :)Uncle Scott and Aunt Arla celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in June so the girls gave them and helped them open some gifts we brought from Tennessee and Kentucky. Kennedy also performed a very special "happy" dance for Uncle Scott. She did this every time we saw him. She just went nuts dancing all over the place and being super cute. Missy K calls it her "happy" dance and will only do it for Uncle Scott. :)While we were in Wisconsin Jackson began to crawl. He wasn't super speedy but he was getting up on all 4's and getting where he wanted to go. He thought he was pretty hot stuff! :)No trip to the farm would be complete without spending time with a couple of Reagan and Kennedy's favorite farm animals, Gypsy and Taboo. We brought carrots along to feed them for a treat and in exchange for a couple of rides. :)Reagan enjoying a ride on Gypsy with Aunt Dee guiding themReagan wanted to take a turn on Taboo as well but ended up taking her first spill off a horse. Poor Taboo got spooked and took off while dumping Reagan on the ground. As Reagan has been more than willing and happy to tell anyone she can get to listen to her for a couple minutes in the last month "Taboo did not have a saddle or a bridle so I couldn't stop her when she started to gallop. I fell off and hurt my armpit." To help ease the pain of falling off the horse, Aunt Dee brought out special penguin gummies and Brandon provided entertainment by tying up cousin Kage. I told the girls they should help Kage but Reagan told me later she didn't want to help because she was afraid Brandon would tie her up too! lol :)Kennedy cracked me up by telling Reagan she needed to hold onto Gypsy's hair and then she wouldn't fall off. She was full advice and more than ready to demonstrate how Reagan needed to ride the horse to avoid injury in the future. lol :) We did get Reagan back up on Gypsy before leaving since we felt it was important for her to leave on a positive note. Here are a couple pictures of Missy K demonstrating how to "properly" ride a horse. After recovering from our horse trauma the girls decided they would like some 4-wheeler rides with Aunt DeeAfter Kennedy was nervous about riding with Uncle Phil she had no problems hopping on the 4-wheeler with Aunt Dee. I asked her if she trusted Aunt Dee more and she told me "YES!!!"The girls got Uncle Scott to give them a 4-wheeler ride too. The 4-wheelers have to be one of the best parts of visiting the farm! :) While Grammy and Great Grandma tried their luck at the casino we went down the road to Nathan and Jeanna's house to play with cousins Kolton, Ariel and Haydn. Thanks for having us down for the morning! Silly Kolton and Reagan wearing 3-D glasses :)Kolton teaching Jackson how to use a gun... If you recall, Kennedy had her first gun at experience when she was about 13 months old with Kolton at his house too. lol :)Enjoying a pizza lunch togetherOur last evening there the girls decided they needed to check out the barn and the calves one last time. Here they are watching Uncle Phil pour his milk into the container which carries the milk from the barn into the milkhouse. The best part of helping Uncle Phil milk is taking a break to eat his cheese whips in the milk house!Yummy Cheese Whip!!!Reagan was so gentle, cautious and quite in order to get the smallest calves to trust her and let her feed themReagan falling on her way out of the calf barnKennedy doing her best to "feed" some of the older calvesReagan was very curious about the hay mow and where and why the hay and straw came down into the barn. Uncle Phil took a break from milking to show Reagan where he pitches some of it down from the hay mow into the barn. In the hay mow!!!!! :)I have many fond memories of playing/climbing/jumping on the loading ramp on the barn hill growing up. It's so much fun to see the girls enjoying the farm in so many of the same ways I did. One last 4-wheeler ride with Uncle Phil before heading to Tennessee
