Lexington Children's Theatre - Beauty and The Beast Camp

The second week in July Reagan attended Beauty and The Beast camp with Heidi at the Lexington Children's Theatre (http://www.lctonstage.org/pages/current.html). It is the oldest children's theatre in the US and has some exceptional programs. We are so fortunate to have it so close by. I loved doing children's theatre when I was growing up and I think the kids are going to enjoy it as well. The theatre does programs all summer long for kids of varying ages. The two Reagan participated in were two of the camps designed for 4 & 5 year olds. They were Beauty and the Beast and Cinderella. All the art projects they do during the week are used as props during their performance. They learn how to use their imaginations. During the performance they demonstrate this through things like deciding what to pack to rescue Belle's father and then acting out the moves to get a suitcase, get clothes and books out of their closet and packing it all up. They also learn a few little songs with accompanying moves. Overall it is just really cute!

At the beginning of the "performance" the kids were told they could bring someone special up with them to warm up. Reagan chose Kennedy and it was so sweet! I couldn't believe she didn't get Grammy or Aunt Arla. I wish we had gotten a better picture because it was just too cute!

Since Belle loves to read they made books one day which they used to pretend to read during the performance (you can also see a bush they made behind Reagan too). I can't remember exactly what they said at this point but it had something to do with Belle's father and Reagan looked up at Tim and said "Dad, I made this book for you!"Reagan is taking her turn telling a part of the storyGoing through the forest to find Belle's fatherAll of the little girl's were Belle as well as one enchnaged object. Reagan was Mrs. Potts.Singing and Dancing :)Heidi's group trying to teach the Beast some mannersReagan's group had some ideas for the Beast tooReagan (Mrs. Potts) and Heidi (Lumiere) in front of the castle they helped color after the performanceAunt Arla, Grammy and Grand-Dad were there for Reagan's performance as well. How special!!!Daddy and Jackson enjoyed the show too! :)My favorite Mrs. Potts! :)Mrs. Potts was more in the mood to take a picture with Aunt Arla than Mom! :) While the adults were talking in the lobby (Uncle David and Aunt Jolene were there to see Heidi) the girls noticed a TV which was scrolling advertisements for upcoming theatre events. They sat themselves down in front of he TV and giggled at it. They were significantly more entertaining than what was appearing on the screen. Kennedy must have agreed becuase after a little while she looked up at me and said in a very serious sweet little voice "What we laughing at Mom? That's not funny Mom." Two grandpas having a serious conversation :)
