European New Year's Eve Party

One of our friends from the BHLC invited us to a European New Year's Eve party this year. I've never heard of this before, but for anyone with small children, this is sheer brilliance in my opinion! Or anyone who doesn't want to stay up until midnight in general. Instead of celebrating New Year's at midnight New York time, you celebrate it London time, which is 6:00 PM Eastern. The kids are in great moods, no one is struggling to stay awake it's just so much fun! I do love staying up until midnight though so I don't know if I could really give up that celebration entirely, but I thought this party idea was a fantastic one!

Kennedy and Reagan all decked out and ready to celebrate New Year's Eve with their hostess, Maura.Would any true New Year's party be complete with out noise makers? My children would all vote a resounding "No!" Noise makers are a serious must to any good party (although glaringly and obviously missing from the intimate gathering at our house later in the evening... I admit it, I'm no fun at all! I'm so glad that Ms. Rikki is so cool!)Missy K getting creative :)Our little ladies man opted to spend his time playing with a half a dozen girls in the playhouse instead of the boys. :)All the kids lined up by the stairs for a balloon drop. This was especially cool because there was candy in the balloons. What a fun idea!Reagan very excited to have received a balloon (she didn't manage to catch one on her own so Ms. Rikki convinced one of the older kids to share it with her - she was so happy!). Missy K didn't care if she got a balloon as long as she had candy and Ms. Rikki made sure everyone had plenty of that. :)Happy New Yea'rs (in London, England anyway)! After our countdown we sang Auld Lang Syne while one of the guests provided piano accompianment. Then we moved outside to enjoy some New Year's Festivities on this gorgeous night! My multi tasking, chocolate loving, daughter at her finest. lol :) Missy K loves her chocolate and clearly she wasn't going to put her chocolate down even for a sparkler. Why did God give us two hands, if it wasn't to put them both to good use on occassions such as these, right? As you can probably tell, while the girls love to have S'mores, they enjoy the deconstructed version. Eating one ingredient at a time is apparently the best way to enjoy them. Here is the hands and mouths full of marshmellow stage. :)Reagan and one of her best friends, Liam, from the BHLCJackson loved watching the fireworksJanette and Liam enjoying the fireworks together (they hosted the awesome "Leaf Raking Party" we went to last fall)After the fireworks were over they launched a large lantern. It was so cool. Such a neat way to end such a fun evening!Thank you so much for inviting us to our first European New Year's Eve celebration! We hope to celebrate more with you in the future! :)
